Tent Shelter

Our tent / shelter policy became a topic of conversation after one of our DJs set up on a rooftop in the heat of the summer. Everything was going to plan then suddenly the DJ became aware that one of the speakers had gone silent and unresponsive. To troubleshoot, they replaced this speaker with a spare.

Shortly after, a 2nd speaker became unresponsive. Thankfully it wasn’t a large guest count and the 3rd speaker made it though the end of the night.

Speaker repair costs and subsequent rentals while they were in the shop has lent to preventative measures moving forward.

To avoid this scenario in the future, we aim to discuss options with clients when planning extended outdoor occasions. There may be an associated fee when we include our own shelter though this can be avoided if the DJ can set up beneath an awning or if a tent shelter may be provided by the venue or client.

Outdoor ceremonies lend to about an hour of exposure while another hour may be accumulated with an outdoor cocktail hour. Passing rain storms can be overcome with a quick use of a tarp or even personal umbrella though live music and outdoor dancefloors require shelter in case of inclement weather.

August, 2019 at Dunafon Castle. The ceremony was out in the open though cocktail hour was on this rooftop. Given the short span of the ceremony, we worked without a shelter though if heavy rain occurred then this would’ve hindered the acoustic ceremony.

This tent shelter allowed the DJ to leave the setup unattended while following the movement of the timeline.

Dinner invited guests to another location under a large event tent and afterwards the party continued on the rooftop where the DJ was able to return to his protected gear for the dancefloor portion.

Some outdoor occasions with ceremony and cocktail hour within the same vicinity allow us to conveniently set up a tent just once.

August, 2021 at Blackstone River Ranch. This screenshot from one of our wedding films shows Mark tucked to the side of a wedding ceremony. The cocktail hour took place just behind him, allowing him to simply turn the speakers 180° to accommodate.
